Part of the pilgrimage route that takes place in honor of St. John Vladimir, hopefully in the near future will be also the National Historical Museum. This was asked from the Director of the Museum, Mr. Melsi Labi, supporting by the Mayor of Bar, Mr. Zoran Srzentić. In medieval pavilion of the National Historical Museum are two silver boxes with the relics of St. John Vladimir, a curiosity for many pilgrims.
Dr. Zoran Srzentić, was on a visit to Tirana with the purpose of meeting the Director of the National Museum. “In the context of scientific research we thought to invite here in Tirana”, said Mr. Melsi Labi in his welcoming greeting. During this meeting was discussed not only about the history but also for cooperation in the field of tourism. At the moment referring about the cultural and historical tourism, we must find new ways to offer tourists from around the world. The pilgrimage to honor the remains of St. John Vladimir, where in some places the Saint has made history, is a key point for attracting tourists.
Dr. Zoran Srzentić was interested to closely recognize the rare relics of Saint John Vladimir that were rediscovered only a short while ago during the inventory process and scientific research of the National Historical Museum. He even thanked the Director of the Museum, Mr. Melsi Labi, for showing these relics from the darkness, as well as for the publication of the book: “John Vladimir, the Prince who became a Saint”.
Later on, the mayor of Bar, Mr. Zoran Srzentić toured the pavilions of the National Historical Museum, where he became familiar with the history of Albanians, from antiquity to the communist genocide. This visit was guided by the Director of the institution Mr. Melsi Labi. At the end of his visit Dr. Zoran Srzentić proposed a possible twinning of the National Historical Museum, the State Museum of Cetinje in Montenegro, but also for co-operation at local museums. Finally he invited the Director Labi, during a suitable time to visit Bar city and to continue the bilateral cooperation.
