French and Francophone were gathered at the courtyard of the National Historical Museum, to celebrate a special day, the revolution’s victory over the monarchy. On this occasion the French Embassy in Tirana held a reception on the occasion of July 14th, which marks the National Day of France.
During the ceremony, the charge d’affaires at the Embassy of France in Tirana, Mr. Didier Guilbert held the speech prepared by French ambassador in the absence, Mr. Bernard Fitoussi. During the speech was appreciated the cooperation between two countries. In the speech prepared by the Ambassador Fitoussi, among others was said: “I hope that Albania joins the EU and to give up old practices.”
At the festive ceremony participated also the Director of the National Historical Museum, Mr. Labi Melsi who had many meetings with representatives of foreign embassies accredited in Tirana. July 14th marks the National Day of France; it symbolizes the triumph of the French Revolution over monarchy and is related with the conquest the Bastille’s fortress. This special day for French people was decided to be commemorated in 1880.
