April 18 is declared by ICOMOS and UNESCO, since 1982, as “International Day of Monuments and Historical Settlements”.
It is the day when people and nations for the whole world turn the attention of their cultural heritage, recognized its values and sensitize the protection and promotion of these values. With this case the National Historical Museum organizes an event in collaboration with the school “Sami Frashëri”, in Tirana. A group of students of this school decided to take care of maintenance of the monument to “Çuka e Ajtoit” and the mosaic “Carpet of Apollonia”, which are exposed in the atrium of the National Historical Museum.
In honor of this day in Albania are organized free entrances through cultural monuments and are developed different activities related to values, the importance as well as the risks to these monuments.
