“An evening with director Hakani” was titled the memorial ceremony, which was held at UNESCO hall in National Historical Museum. Friends, such as Kristaq Dhamo, Muharrem Fejzo, Ksenofon Dilo, Grigor Ikonomi and Haziz Karalliu, brought their memories about their friend. A collage of his creativity appeared on the big screen.
Meanwhile, the whole ceremony concealed a surprise…
Very few recognize the story of “Hotel Pocrok” and obviously even fewer know what this movie is about. “Hotel Pocrok” is a short movie, created by director Hysen Hakani in 1956, after he concluded his studies at Prague Film Academy. The movie was undoubtedly a good omen, the cornerstone of the foundation not only to his personal creativity, but also to Albanian cinematography as well. Because of his early contribution, Mr. Hakani was called “The Pioneer of Albanian Cinematography”, while “Hotel Pocrok” remains to be his “first child”. For 61 years, “Hotel Pocrok” has been part of Prague Film Academy archives, but now we have the pleasure to show it to the Albanian audience as well. “Hotel Pocrok” was handed to Mrs. Elvira Diamanti, director of Archives.
