“It is forbidden not to touch” is a collaboration between National Historical Museum, “Ramazan Kabashi” Institute and the Institute of children with hearing disabilities.
UN has proclaimed December 3ed, as the day of people with disabilities with one goal, to promote the understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for dignity, rights and welfare for people with these disabilities. In this day, the National Historical Museum, in collaboration with “Ramazan Kabashi” Institute, organized two activities, such as: “It’s forbidden not to touch” and “I do art too”.
The first event began with children who lack the ability to see. This activity consists of scheduled visits in National Historical Museum by students with sight disabilities.
Contemporary museums are turning to the concept of touch and have started to review all their exhibitions based on this fact. The National Historical Museum is hospitable, warm and inclusive, accessible and positive for people with these disabilities to visit and work in. Students of “Ramazan Kabashi” Institute, equipped with special gloves, provided by the Museum’s staff, could touch the original objects, exposed in the museum’s pavilions. All this was conducted by museum’s specialists assistance.
The specialist guided the children through pavilions by giving the appropriate description for every object. The objects were insured and fixed for any possible damage. Children with disabilities were able to experience the world view through their hands. At the same time, the ability to touch and feel these original objects, was a new and excellent way to teach them the Albanian ancient civilization.
In the context of this activity, among Mr. Labi and director of “Ramazan Kabashi” Institute Mr. Xhemal Xhafa, was signed a collaboration agreement.
This activity was conducted in the context of the 35th anniversary of the inauguration of National Historical Museum.
